James has been Chief Investment Officer at Broadwood Capital, a specialist real estate credit manager, since January 2025. He brings over 25 years of financial services experience, having trained as a chartered accountant at KPMG, subsequently working in banking (DeutscheBank, Eurohypo Investment Banking, Citi) and investment management (Palatium Investment Management and Aviva Investors).
Prior to joining Broadwood, James was Head of Multi-Asset Fund Management within the Private Markets business at Aviva Investors where he was responsible for a team of fund managers investing over £5bn of capital commitments across real assets debt and equity on behalf of UK pension funds and UK and US insurers. He was a voting member on the global investment committee.
James holds an MA from the University of Oxford and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
